AS Colour is very proud to present to ewe our very first range of merino wool t-shirts in men’s and women’s short and long sleeve styles. So what’s so great about merino? It gets a lot of hype as a performance fabric for many good reasons. For a start, merino wool fibres can absorb up to a third of their own weight in moisture, wicking and releasing that moisture back into the atmosphere to keep you bone dry. Merino is obviously a lot warmer than cotton but it also has the unique feature of not holding body odour which makes it ideal for sports clothing or as a thermal style under garment. We have used a fine blend of New Zealand and Australian merino in a lighter 180GSM weight which is perfect for winter layering. The fit is slightly slimmer in the body than most of our t-shirts as merino is meant to be worn close to the body to make use of its natural properties, so don’t be afraid of wearing it a bit tighter than normal. |
Another great feature of our 180GSM merino is the very flat and smooth print face which means you can screenprint on it with very good results. Basically this fabric can be treated the same way that you would a cotton t-shirt with the added benefits of superior warmth and comfort, just make sure you put it through the wool wash! So whether you are adventuring into the back country of Central Otago or the back alleys of Auckland City our new merino t-shirt range wool give you a much bigger range of t-shirt possibilities.
